Back for more, Kieron and David take on their second marathon

Some of you may remember that this time last year, Kieron and David were preparing for their first ever London Marathon. If you missed our blog post last year, you can read how they got on here. Always up for a challenge, and obviously having forgotten the aching and tired legs from last year, they have both signed up again for this year. 26.2 miles of fun, especially for David, who claims to hate running; a good start David! They are both raising money for The Children’s Society, as David did last year.

Smiling, can you tell this was the start of last years marathon, and not the end?

The Children’s Society, who support thousands of children each year to fight for the hope and happiness of children affected by abuse, exploitation and neglect, are a very worthy cause, and one which will provide motivation when Kieron and David feel like giving up. Throughout training so far, there have been a few grumbles and minor wobbles, as is natural when you are aiming to cover a marathon distance. We all know that in the end, they will both manage it, and with the help of the crowds, will have an enjoyable if somewhat painful, run around the scenic London Marathon Route.

When they reach their fundraising target, we are going to suggest outfit ideas for them to wear on their way round, Sara in Fowey’s idea!

Pictured above, the pair are making the most of a cooler day, and running out of the heat of the sun. Squeezing runs in around work during the summer is a challenge, but in the last week, both of them have churned out an impressive 20 mile run, rather them than us! Having lots of lovely nieces and nephews, supporting the Children’s Society is close to both of their hearts, as hearing about some of the horrible difficulties that so many children face, is so upsetting, hence why they both want to raise as much money as possible to support The Children’s Society.

Above is Kieron, James, Maria and David, having done the Tywardreath Trotter, a very hilly and hot 7 mile all terrain race around the local area. This was a good warmup race, and helped them to start increasing the mileage of their runs in the lead up to full on marathon training.

Run David! Run Kieron! All at Brocante are rooting for you!
