Maddie's Musings

Today we catch up with Maddie, who you will find working in our Fowey and Charlestown shops. Maddie is bouyed by the early spring sunshine that we have been enjoying and is excited to share her current Brocante favourites with us. Sit back and enjoy! Here’s Maddie doing her best Dwayne Johnson impression.

The lovely Maddie, the Dwayne ‘the rock’ Johnson impression needs work!

‘Albeit cold, it is feeling like a true spring day in our Charlestown shop. The sun is shining onto the organ pipes highlighting the intricate gold detailing, radiant colours are filling our displays as we welcome new stock and I had the pleasure of a visit from Kieron, politely asking (telling) me to write an entry for the blog. Whilst debating the topic for the blog entry, Bobby Hebb’s ‘Sunny’ came on over the speaker. As he sang ‘now the dark days are gone and the bright days are here’ a lightbulb turned on - a metaphorical lightbulb, not one in one of our many lovely lamps - as there was no better day to write about some of my favourite bits to brighten up a home from our new spring stock.

Green Glassware

Our glassware and really breakable breakables aren’t online, we can’t trust the post! If this has caught your eye please give us a call or email and we’ll let you know which of our shops currently has it in stock.

Perhaps my favourite of the new arrivals is this set of 4 wine glasses and the matching decanter/carafe! Coming in a rich green, with floral detailing, you’ll catch me making the most of this set in the garden on sunny summers evenings. For those who aren’t big drinkers or perhaps are more on the clumsy side, we also have tumblers in this design!

This duo of ceramic birds have flown all of the way to Brocante from Germany! With their sleek black and white design and the use of ceramic, wood and metal, they give a contemporary coastal feel.

It’s not just home ware that we love here at Brocante! This gorgeous vibrant pink jumper is a perfect staple for a spring wardrobe. The vivid pink is sure to brighten up even the greyest of days (we sure do have a lot of those in the South West).

Lastly, but certainly not least! I had to include some of the friendly faces you may see whilst browsing our shops (no, I don’t mean the staff…). Whether it be an Amusable Croissant, grumpy Timmy the Turtle or one of the many bunnies, the Jellycat range is guaranteed to provoke a smile. I am especially loving Aimee the Sheep, Bartholomew the Bear in his bathrobe and the Silly Sushi Nigiri (because who wouldn’t love a smiling piece of sushi!?)’

That’s it from Maddie! And would you believe, the sun is still shining, and the birds are chorusing in the garden. The worst of the winter is now behind us and with the spring equinox yesterday, we hope for a positive and bright spring and summer for all. Now to get out and enjoy the sunshine!
